The Words!! The Terrible, Evil Words!!

I have been reading for the past five hours. Not fun reading either, although I won't say the subject matter is uninteresting- just terribly slow and painful reading. I have managed to get behind in the reading for my War, Memory and Culture learning block class, which means that I had to read a long chapter from a theoretical/history book on wars, a small section about American life during the late thirties and early forties, and a section on American-Chinese-Japanese relations of the thirties. And I still have about a hundred pages on the Japanese view of American actions. Last week I also had a two chapters of positively painful philosophy on the "Ethics of Memory" and chapter from the war theory book, which I put off until today, and because of my procrastination I managed to convince myself I had to read chapters one through three instead of one and three, so about half-way through chapter two I decided to look at my syllabus and realized my mistake. This of course lead to the inevitable(or was it really inevitable?) half hour of complaining about the wasted time reading unnecessary material. And for those who claim that they can read anywhere- your one little statement tells a LOT about where you have tried to study. A dorm room is almost certainly not on your list of places you have tried. Of course, I won't claim it is impossible to study in a dorm, but I will say it is definitely difficult. Damn. Now I have to proof-read my journal entry. To avoid too much more reading, I will sign off shortly.Felicia
